Our primary "Jump Bag" carries nearly all the supplies needed to handle an adult emergency, including the following:
Oxygen Cylinder
Non-Rebreather Mask: Delivers nearly 100% oxygen to patients, used primarily for patients in respiratory distress or with severe trauma
Nasal Cannula: Allows us to deliver supplemental oxygen to patients who do not require the high-flow provided by Non-Rebreathers
Nebulizer Mask/Albuterol: Allows us to give continuous albuterol treatments to patients having an Asthma attack
Bag-Valve Mask: Device which allows EMTs to ventilate patients who are not breathing or not breathing adequately
Oropharyngeal Airways (OPA): Simple airway devices that are inserted into the mouth of patients without a gag reflex, they prevent the patient's tongue from becoming an airway obstruction
Nasopharyngeal Airways (NPA): Simple airway devices inserted through the patient's nose that pass behind the tongue, allowing EMTs to maintain an airway in unresponsive patients who still have a gag reflex
King Airways: Duke EMS has just started utilizing the King Airway as our "Blind Insertion Airway Device", replacing the Combitube. The King Airway is designed to be placed into the esophagus, while a series of cuffs directs air into the lungs.

Pulse Oximeter: Determines percentage of red blood cells that are oxygenated
Glucometer: Determines blood sugar in patients with altered mental status
Blood Pressure Cuffs: adult and large adult sizes
Stethoscope: For listening to heart and lung sounds
Thermometer
Aspirin: Given to patients experiencing chest pain
Nitroglycerine: Also used for patients experiencing chest pain
EpiPen and EpiPen Jr: Used for patients having experiencing severe allergic reactions
Oral Glucose: Used for patients with low blood sugar levels
Tylenol: Used for fevers
Afrin: Nasal spray for patients with continuous nose bleeds
Trauma Supplies: 4x4 gauze bandages, cold packs, trauma dressings, burn dressings, splints, irrigation solution, and bandages used for patients with minor to major trauma
Duke EMS additionally carries a Pediatrics Bag, containing infant and child BVMs, oxygen masks, King Airways, Blood Pressure Cuffs, AED Pads, and a Broslow Tape.
An Extrication Bag carries several sizes of cervical collars, disposable head blocks, and spider-straps used to immobilize patients with possible spinal injury.
